Divers facteurs externes et internes entra\u00eenent des variations de cette valeur.<\/p><p><strong>Niveaux de puret\u00e9<\/strong><\/p><p>La densit\u00e9 standard de 8,96 g\/cm est bas\u00e9e sur 100% de cuivre pur. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, le cuivre utilis\u00e9 dans l'industrie est rarement pur et contient des impuret\u00e9s mineures. Le cuivre \u00e0 haute conductivit\u00e9 sans oxyg\u00e8ne (OFHC) est le type de cuivre dont la densit\u00e9 est la plus proche de la densit\u00e9 id\u00e9ale. En revanche, la teneur en oxyg\u00e8ne du cuivre ETP (electrolytic tough pitch) peut entra\u00eener une l\u00e9g\u00e8re fluctuation de la densit\u00e9. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, les impuret\u00e9s r\u00e9duisent la densit\u00e9 d'un mat\u00e9riau. Par exemple, si un producteur met des \u00e9l\u00e9ments plus l\u00e9gers dans un pot de fusion, la masse totale par unit\u00e9 de volume diminuera. Par ailleurs, des industries extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9cises, comme l'a\u00e9rospatiale, exigent que la puret\u00e9 soit certifi\u00e9e afin de permettre un pesage pr\u00e9cis.<\/p><p><strong>\u00c9l\u00e9ments d'alliage<\/strong><\/p><p>Les changements les plus importants proviennent de l'alliage. La question qui se pose est la suivante : pourquoi les ing\u00e9nieurs utiliseraient-ils du cuivre pur pour fabriquer une pi\u00e8ce structurelle alors qu'il est possible de le m\u00e9langer \u00e0 d'autres m\u00e9taux pour obtenir des mat\u00e9riaux plus r\u00e9sistants ?<\/p><ul><li>Zinc : En ajoutant du zinc, on obtient du laiton. Avec une densit\u00e9 de 7,14 g\/cm, le zinc est un m\u00e9tal relativement l\u00e9ger. L'alliage obtenu, le laiton, est donc plus l\u00e9ger que le cuivre pur.<\/li><li>L'\u00e9tain : L'ajout d'\u00e9tain permet d'obtenir du bronze. La densit\u00e9 de l'\u00e9tain est d'environ 7,31 g\/cm. La densit\u00e9 totale du bronze est donc \u00e9galement inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle du cuivre.<\/li><li>Le nickel : Dense (8,90 g\/cm), le nickel conf\u00e8re \u00e0 un produit comme le cupronickel un poids tr\u00e8s proche de celui du cuivre pur.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Dynamique thermique<\/strong><\/p><p>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, la temp\u00e9rature joue \u00e9galement un r\u00f4le important. Lorsqu'ils sont chauff\u00e9s, les atomes d'un mat\u00e9riau vibrent. Ces vibrations \u00e9loignent les atomes les uns des autres. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est la dilatation thermique.<\/p><ul><li>Haute temp\u00e9rature : Le cuivre continue \u00e0 se r\u00e9chauffer, son volume continue \u00e0 augmenter. Par cons\u00e9quent, la densit\u00e9 diminuera puisque la masse reste la m\u00eame. N\u00e9anmoins, ces d\u00e9cisions influencent le poids total du produit.<\/p><p><strong>Laiton (cuivre, alliage de zinc)<\/strong><\/p><p>Le laiton est l'alliage de cuivre le plus typique. Sa densit\u00e9 se situe g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement entre 8,4 et 8,73 g\/cm. La proportion de zinc d\u00e9termine le chiffre exact. Les laitons \u00e0 forte teneur en zinc sont plus l\u00e9gers. Les entreprises produisent du laiton pour les appareils sanitaires, les instruments de musique et les cartouches. En outre, il pr\u00e9sente une bonne usinabilit\u00e9 et une bonne r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la corrosion.<\/p><p><strong>Bronze (cuivre, alliage d'\u00e9tain)<\/strong><\/p><p>Le bronze est un alliage classique et r\u00e9sistant. Sa densit\u00e9 se situe entre 7,4 et 8,9 g\/cm. La diff\u00e9rence est plus grande ici puisque le bronze est un alliage d'\u00e9tain avec d'autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments tels que l'aluminium ou le phosphore.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Bronze d'aluminium :<\/strong> plus l\u00e9ger et plus durable.<\/li><li><strong>Bronze phosphoreux :<\/strong> Le bronze est le mat\u00e9riau id\u00e9al pour les roulements, les coussinets et la quincaillerie marine en raison de sa grande r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l'usure et de son faible coefficient de frottement par rapport au cuivre.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Cupronickel (Cuivre, alliage de nickel)<\/strong><\/p><p>Le cupronickel a une densit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s proche de celle du cuivre pur, environ 8,94 g\/cm. Cet alliage est presque totalement r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 la corrosion de l'eau de mer. Les constructeurs navals l'utilisent donc pour les coques et les tuyauteries.
